It’s only really 2 people who dislike and harp on Paulo (Abbey and Sue). :/ wow just wow. How easy people can bully and peer pressure someone into talking bad about someone

Not really. Jasmine hated on him. Madison still hates on him, and Lucy and him keep fighting when they meet. Sucks

Ah I forgot about Jasmine and Madison. Lucy is kinda brash with most people so. So now his one friend (beside Mike) that he thought was his friend is saying all this ooof

Sue and Abbey should be happy with themselves now that they got the storm and drama they wanted. This is going to bite all of them in the butt.

It's a shame that Daisy is the one who Paulo decided to ghost after this chapter because holy shit the peer pressure/ gaslighting/ emotional manipulation that Abbey and to a lesser extent Sue are projecting onto her right now is so fucked up. This chapter has been extremely rough if you're a Daisy and Paulo fan (doubly rough if you ship them).

Now would be a good time for Mike to gently remind everyone how Paulo literaly saved his and Lucy's life in the past.

Actually decided to go back and see where in the story this chapter takes place. So for context, this is between Paulo taking Daisy to the Con and Abbey breaking up with Daisy after she heard how he treated Paulo at the con, with this chapter taking place RIGHT after their fight on the phone regarding Abbey's trauma and anger issues. Literally the last thing Paulo said to Daisy was calling Abbey a psycho who would rather kill him than talk with him, called him an aggressor, but got cold feet and didn't elaborate when Daisy asked. This is specifically where the "He can't ever say sorry" line is coming from; his refusal to apologize to Abbey in the events prior to this chapter.
Obviously, the dramatic irony in this chapter is palpable. We KNOW Paulo isn't entirely in the wrong here. But from Daisy's perspective in this chapter... I get where she's coming from. Daisy's trying to be supportive and help Abbey through his personal problems, and Paulo is not only actively harming those efforts by continuing to bully Abbey right in front of her, but from her perspective, is actively talking shit about him behind his back. So why not talk shit about Paulo behind HIS?

With friends like this who needs enemies. Yeah, Paulo has issues and growing up to do, but damn. They're not a healthy group at all and at this point, I honestly hope they all eventually go their separate ways because they seem to really feed the worst in each other.

I went back and reread Table for One, and it REALLY clicks how much hearing this conversation affected him. I figured the phone call with Daisy was probably upsetting, sure, but he fights with people often, I feel like if it was JUST that call, he would not have been nearly as harsh towards Daisy. But him having heard what people said about him while he wasn't around, Daisy especially? His behavior makes total sense.

Not saying its Entirely justified, he WAS pretty stubborn and inconsiderate during this part of the story. But he's absolutely right to be upset at nearly everyone hounding him. I can only hope that the reason we're getting this flashback is because he might be reflecting on this moment, especially since he and Daisy are head over heels for one another, and he HAS grown as a person. Maybe this could be a way of him beginning to feel like he's worthy enough for her? That's just my little theory though
