I don’t think it’s as serious as rape, but rather Tess started the rumor. Rumors have a way of gathering a life all their own, and in the words of Don Henley, we love dirty laundry. But this is the final step to show that Tess is changing and trying to mend the bridges she burned.

Lucy giving Jess a bloody nose. Did see that one coming. The slap set off her badass mode. The last time we got a good look at that was forever ago. But Jess having a reason beyond Tess having a bullying past is a positive in my book. Slap notwithstanding, I kind of like Jess. Learning! Incoming!
P.S.
Forever ago was chapter 12. Confrontation.

To put this into perspective: Lucy hasn’t heard any of the rumours. She is basing her opinion of Jess entirely on the fact that she and her friend fucked Lucy’s friend to hurt Lucy’s OTHER friend, and also made the first friend feel miserable about it.
The irony is that in her anger about whatever rumours or antics she was subjected to, she has become at least as bad as her reputation claims she is. I don’t have sympathy for those types of people. Ever. You deserve sympathy up until the point you deserve your reputation.
