*Puffy white clouds fill the sky.*
Tess: So if you ever wondered.. That’s why..

*Mike and Lucy stare at her.*
Mike: Urk..
Lucy: Wow..

Lucy: You were a total bitch.
*Lucy glares at Tess. She smiles in embarrassment.*
Tess: Er.. haha.. yeah..
*Mike awkwardly shrugs.*
Mike: Lucy..

*Tess looks at the group, gratefully.*
Tess: Thanks for sticking up for me back there. Even if you didn’t know the full story, you gave me a chance..

*Mike recalls the end of the pep rally when he, Abbey, David and Lucy surrounded Tess and escorted her safely through the angry crowd.*
Mike: Well, of course! SOMEONE had to get you out of there!

*Tess looks down.*
Tess: I never expected it to get so bad. I’m really sorry I got you all involved in my issues..
*Mike awkwardly scratches the back of his head.*
Mike: Eh, it’s okay.

*Tess looks away.*
Tess: Do you think it’ll always be like this?
*Mike smiles warmly.*
Mike: No way!
*Lucy pouts.*
Lucy: Yeah, probably.

*Mike scowls at Lucy.*
Mike: ..
Lucy: What? It’s true!
*Tess looks upset.*
Tess: …

*Lucy waves a hand dismissively.*
Lucy: But who cares? People can be stubborn. You’re not entitled to anyone’s forgiveness if they don’t wanna give it to you.

*Tess gazes at Lucy.*
Lucy: If there’s nothing you can do to change their minds, just move on and don’t worry about them anymore.
Tess: …

*Tess looks down and pouts.*
Tess: … You’re right, I think..

Tess: It’s just sometimes, I wish they--
*Tess continues to speak as a shadowy figure approaches her from behind.*
Jay: (A-hem)

*Mike, Lucy and Tess look up.*
Tess: ..!

Tess: J-Jay..?
*Jay looks like he’s been in a fight.*
Jay: Um.. hey..

*Jay looks up.*
Jay: I just wanted to, uh..

Jay: .. apologize..
*Behind him, Paulo and Abbey sit on a grassy hill. Abbey glares directly at Jay.*

*Tess watches Jay, confused.*
Jay: I shouldn’t have tried to hurt you. That’s all, I guess..
Tess: …

*Tess and Jay stand in silhouette, facing each other.*
Tess: .. It’s okay..

Author commentary

Veronica: Well, that was an eventful pep rally! Let’s all hang outside and think about what we’ve learned today.

Lucy’s not taking any of your sad feefees crap, Tess!!!!!!! I like that Lucy’s just speaking her mind and being abrasive, meanwhile Mike wants to be nice, good, supportive caring friend. Maybe it’s okay to like your friends while still being a bit disappointed in them.

Anyway.. uhh.. hey, Jay. You look like you had fun.
